Worcester Uni has a very warm and homely feel to it’s campus which really helped to settle me and make me feel at home. The Society and Sport choice is excellent and the opportunities this University provides students to improve their skills and their employability are far beyond the other universities I looked at when I was deciding what University course to go for. Worcester in general is a really exciting place to be. I think the SU, although it’s vital and provides opportunities could be more vocal and more supportive of issues students are facing within their social activities.

Both English Literature and Creative Writing are both really exciting, engaging and challenging courses which I’m so glad I chose to take part in. The lecturers I have had have all been so kind and helpful and really engaging and passionate about their subjects which makes lecturers and seminars really productive. They always make time in class and outside of class to address concerns, particularly about assignments. Other than during lockdowns my lectures and seminars have all been in person which I was very grateful for, although I am aware some modules to integrate blended learning as it can be more convenient at times. I couldn’t recommend these two courses enough, particularly the combination of taking them as a Joint Honours.

Worcester is a fantastic place to live, even though it’s a city it doesn’t feel daunting like other big cities, it’s very easy to navigate and really caters to the student population. There are tons of part-time work opportunities, particularly in the city centre and there are tons of places to do activities and eat. It’s really easy to get places, nothing is too far away to walk generally but buses run really regularly and to lots of different places. Student housing prices are generally quite average, and there are lots of locations on either side of the river, although as far as I am aware, there aren’t many accessible housing opportunities outside of campus.

Ledbury Halls worked really well for me. I stayed on the bottom floor which meant I did get a bit of noise from above me but it was pretty minimal. It’s really close to the SU, but nothing is more than a five minute walk anyway. I think it’s good value for money for how much I was paying when I stayed, I’m not sure if the prices have changed at all. It had a lot of fridge and cupboard space and multiple sinks and bathrooms which I liked. It’s nothing special but I would say it’s perfect for students, especially students on a bit of a tighter budget.
