I have really enjoyed studying in Portsmouth. I love the location of the uni, with buildings spread throughout the city and the close proximity to the beach, making it easy to walk to for some calm and headspace. I am in the process of re-taking my second year and the support team was brilliant in assisting my decision to do this and helping me with the process. The facilities are great, I am particularly greatful for the free bus service and the library. I have always been able to access the resources I need for my course. The one thing I will say about the union is that we do not have a student bar which would be great. I also don't feel I know how to get involved with the union or events going on there so this is something that could be improved.

I enjoy my course however sometimes I find the material hard to read as it can be difficult to relate to. The timetable is easy to access and I feel I have a good balance of contact time to time off contact hours for reading, which my course has a lot of.

Freedom and self‑discovery: Uni is often the first time you get to decide who you want to be. You choose your routine, your friends, your interests. That sense of independence can feel electric. Academic moments that click: There’s something satisfying about the first time a difficult concept finally makes sense, or when you produce work you’re genuinely proud of. Unexpected opportunities: Societies, internships, travel, research projects — uni opens doors you didn’t even know existed. The course content can feel a bit all over the place at times — some modules go really deep while others feel disconnected — but it’s taught me how to adapt and find my own structure
