It's great! I love the city and the fact that everyone here loves it as well! Everybody I know has settled in perfectly and the community has the feeling of one big happy family! The lectures are fantastic and are not only very well done, they are also fun and I find that I look forward to going to them! Another thing is the location of the uni in relation to everything around, the city centre is only a short walk from both the uni and the accomodation in which i stay.

I moved to Lincoln last year from Cambridge, and you'd be surprised how similar they are (considering the Cambridge 'elite' reputation). But I wouldn't worry about really chatting with locals, you're more likely to socialise with other students anyway. And the nightlife is good for a town of it's size. The best thing to do is have a look around the town, if night life is important to you then maybe book into a hotel and try it for yourself.
