The worst aspects of my university experience have been the strikes and total lack of communication about that. The best has been the memories that I have made with my friends and continue to make today.

The wifi sucks but the accommodation itself feels homely and safe.

The staff are incredible, unbelievably understanding and supportive. They want you to succeed and you can really tell. However, Lipman building is constantly broken. The top two floors have been out of service for year and now the entire building is out of commission and not expected to be back until the summer. Surely at this point just demolish the place.

The facilities are kind of non existent. Other departments get access to extra software/get to go on trips of some kind. It’d be nice if we had those options. Providing writing software like scrivener to students or hosting a writing retreat for 3rd years would be fun, and a good way to help students learn how these parts of the industry work.

It’s hard to get part time work unless you’re willing to stay over the summer and holidays.

I stayed in Winn in 3 years ago now and the price seems to skyrocketed since, but all of the accoms have. It was good back then, a nice enough place with en suites (a must at uni) and you could pick your exact room online and get an idea of who else was there. However, I do remember that you could mostly walk right in. You couldn’t get into any flats but you could let yourself into the building and courtyard easily. The courtyard door was broken and you could always just pull it open despite it needing a keycard.
