Unlike many prestigious universities, I would say that Herts is very welcoming and informally inviting to people, especially autistic individuals like myself. I'm part of the Aerospace and LGBT societies, the latter of which I love the most. There are many activities, exciting trips, and social gatherings, many of whom are interested in my books and space stuff. Campus living facilities are safe, secure, and more importantly - clean. I do my best to keep my kitchen as clean as possible, even though many other flatmates are quite lazy. There are some bad experiences, however, which were a pain to overcome. On several times, my academic experience has been plagued with mood swings. I often feel overwhelmed and lost resulting from a lack of easy-to-understand structure in lecture slides and assignments - it's up to me to figure out and also using the greatly appreciated help from maths support. I often suffer from depression, so I do try my best to reach out to counseling and mental health support, and its frustrating that it only lasted a few weeks, then ended as it was designed short term. I wished it could continue as I adore the advice and consoling during my lowest moments. It's a miracle that I manged to pass all my exams and coursework so far. I would suggest improving quality in lecture slides to give a better background context in topics that go into deep complexity, so each of us can grasp each info efficiently. I also suggest a better communication between students and senior staff (I've sent concerning emails but hear nothing back), and more proactive feedback action.

My favorite lecturers are in the modules Aerospace Engineering Professionalism, Introduction to Projects Design, and Aerospace Technology and Industry. All the staff involved (I would keep names private) are enjoyable and engaging to learn with, and their PowerPoint slides are comprehensive and they can annotate and explain in such a way that naturally fascinates me. However, this is the exception. Other modules in Maths, Physics and Electrical (all subjects I'm interested in) are taught in a bland fashion, where students can feel lost or overwhelmed. Its like being thrown in the pool deep end, without learning how to swim first. Often these challenges are delt with vy enduring headaches, and in my case overleveraging support from Library staff (called the Maths support service). Language barriers are also an issue but not important. To make matters worse, there have been cases where grammar and technical detail errors in slides presented can mislead students in the wrong direction.

These halls come with clean kitchens, clean rooms, and security and fire safety are excellent. Wifi is consistently strong and powerful. There are two improvement to suggest, I would recommend in-built air conditioning in rooms, and better corridor ventilation, as they often get hot even during winter. The second is installing fridges and induction hobs in the kitchen. They're currently only freezers, and the cookers don't work often as they are inefficient resistive hobs.
