There are a lot of events that are non drinking on a college level and lots of support both academically and in terms of mental health. The main campus is close to the city but not too close. In terms of non drinking events campus wide there isn't really much going on that is massively advertised.

The staff are helpful and the course is nicely structured

They took a long time fixing one of the bathrooms. However it is very close to the city and has a nice community feel

The location is probably one of the best aspects of this university for me, as York is a beautiful city and I love that campus is just outside of the city centre so there is a disconnect between work and going out. I also love the collegiate system as I feel it makes sports more accessible to people like me who may find university wide sports teams more intimidating. Improvements could be made in terms of tailored support, however this could be specific to my department.

I really enjoy the challenging aspects of my course, I feel that I am encouraged to apply my learning to world views and think about how education can be used in order to achieve equality. I am also grateful that lecture recordings are made available to access online. On the other hand, we could have better subject facilities, such as places to study in the department, and a more active society.

My accommodation was brand new when I moved in, with an ensuite, great soundproof walls, large kitchen and social area. I was grateful to all have a communal college ‘hub’ where social events took place, with pool tables, table tennis, TV, and quiet study area during the exam period. Location was slightly further from my lectures/seminars due to being on a different campus however this wasn’t much of an issue.
