Love the location, however teaching and provisions greatly differ depending on your course. My course is fairly well provided for and taught, however there are many students I know who are studying more creative courses that feel they are being severely let down. For example, my partner receives next to no feedback on his work, one of his teachers has never even worked in his line of study and does zoom lessons only, and he has been disregarded heavily when it comes to needing equipment to complete his work. For reference, he studies a Music Bachelors degree and is in his 3rd year.

My course is fantastic. The teachers are genuinely supportive and attentive to my needs. I receive plenty of opportunities to improve my assignments as well as to develop my career. I have had a work study that my teachers helped organise and it has been a thoroughly enjoyable and illuminating experience. I receive plenty of in person course hours and the lectures make use of them very well.

The cost is insane to put it frankly. I pay less now for a one bedroom apartment than I did for my room last year in which I was sharing a kitchen with six other people. There is not enough crack down on quiet hours and I was routinely awakened at 2am because of parties happening in my hall or ones nearby. Yes the halls are nice and well managed in terms of cleanliness, however the rent amount is ridiculous for first year university students. After paying rent I had 800 pounds to get me through four months. That includes transport to doctors appointments and home for the holidays, food, hygiene items, study resources and savings. It was impossible to manage that budget and I only made it through by working ridiculous hours in fast food that severely impacted my studies. We are in a cost of living crisis at this time and I feel like the university tends to forget that.

I think there are a lot of positives to the location in terms of it being a coastal city, having Dartmoor and Cornwall very nearby. However, this does make connecting back to the rest of the UK difficult for students that don't drive or have cars with them, due to a semi-reliable train network across the South West. I think the facilities in my school are incredible. However, in my opinion there is too much group work on this course. The shops on campus are a reasonable price and the facilities staff are amazing, positive, reliable and sociable.

The facilities in the Babbage are excellent and the long opening times have been a huge help. The lecturers are also very knowledgeable and have impressive professional backgrounds/accreditations. However, one lecturer rarely responds, or simply does not respond, to email communications and has not been particularly punctual. This lack of punctuality resulted in the requirements for the coursework being uploaded to the DLE two-weeks late. Students were given no extension on the due date of the coursework even though this was the fault of the lecturer. In addition, in my opinion, there is two much group work on the course. Perhaps this will become more balanced next semester. The actual content of the course is good. I think it is teaching me the essentials for a career in Data.
