As a Pakistani international student studying MSc International Media and Management at Bangor University, I can honestly say that choosing Bangor has been one of the best decisions of my life. Moving so far from home was intimidating, but the warmth and support I received here made me feel welcomed from day one.
Academically, Bangor has exceeded my expectations. The classrooms and lecture halls are fully equipped with modern projectors, screens, computer systems, microphones and speakers. Studying here feels professional and smooth, almost like being in a real media environment. What helps me the most is that every lecture is recorded and all slides are uploaded on Blackboard afterwards. As an international student, this has been a huge advantage for revision and confidence, especially when learning complex topics.
The teaching quality is outstanding. Lecturers genuinely care about our success. They take the time to explain ideas, encourage questions and support us outside class as well. Their approach makes me feel seen, heard and valued as a student.
One of my favourite places on campus is the Pontio building. It’s honestly outclass — a beautiful place for studying, relaxing and socialising. There are quiet study spaces, comfortable seating areas, great food options, and plenty of spots to meet friends. Whether you want to get serious work done or simply take a break, Pontio is the perfect place. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy my daily university life so much.
The Students’ Union is another reason Bangor feels like home. They organise events, cultural activities and support programmes that bring students together. As someone far from home, these events helped me meet new friends and build a sense of community.
The university accommodation has also been a wonderful part of my experience. The halls are clean, safe and well-maintained, with friendly staff always ready to help. For a newcomer in the UK, having such a comfortable living environment feels like a blessing. It truly became my second home.
Overall, my journey at Bangor has been enriching, supportive and full of growth. I would wholeheartedly recommend Bangor University to any international student looking for a high-quality, friendly and inspiring place to study.

Studying MSc International Media and Management at Bangor University has been a very positive academic experience for me, especially in terms of how the course is taught. The teaching style is a blend of in-class learning supported by online materials, which creates a flexible and effective learning environment for international students like me.
Most of our teaching happens face-to-face in modern lecture rooms, which makes discussions and group activities much more engaging. The lecturers use interactive presentations, real industry examples, and multimedia content that really brings the subject to life — which is important for a media-related course.
The course hours are well-balanced. We have a good mix of lectures, seminars, and independent study time, so I never feel overloaded but still stay academically challenged. What I appreciate most is that whenever I need extra time to understand something, I can always go back and watch the recorded lectures on Blackboard. This blended support makes learning much easier, especially when English isn’t your first language.
Contact with lecturers is excellent. They’re approachable, supportive and always willing to help. Whether it’s after class, during office hours or through email, they respond quickly and genuinely care about our understanding of the subject. I never hesitate to ask questions because the environment is encouraging and respectful.
Overall, the teaching approach in this course is modern, well-structured and thoughtfully designed for international students. The combination of in-class interaction, practical examples, online materials and accessible lecturers makes studying at Bangor both comfortable and motivating. I feel like I’m getting real value from my education here.
