Being an International Student from Sweden, I feel very welcome and comfortable at my UNI. Being a smaller University allows the environment feeling more personal and at home, having a closer connection and support from the teachers and classmates. Only way it could be improved is if more people applied for the applied arts course (which I highly recommend) so the school could expand their budget a bit more.

Being a smaller UNI you have the opportunity to pick the teachers brain a lot more, and gives you the chance to ask them for advice when it comes to expanding your own ideas and how to execute them in a suiting approach.

The UNI is located very centrally in Wrexham, both the Art School and the Main campus. Close to centrum and public transport. Close to shops and food as well.

Regent Street Art School is very tired. Applied Art seems to be the poor relation in terms of space and facilities for its students. Workshops are reasonable, but no individual space and having to clear desks and not having your own space to leave work in progress is a real pain. Was told glass was available to study when. I first applied, as were other students, only to find out later that this hasn't been the case for a while. Disappointed and misleading. Also changes to course structure differ from what is advertised and discussed and as someone with ADHD who does not deal well with change, this has been really difficult.
The staff are approachable and supportive and this is backed up by academic study support and counselling services too. The resources are limited and am having to buy equipment and items that should be provided....at least for the first year as promised.

hmmm only 4 hours practical teaching for an applied art course and by technicians not qualified teachers / tutors...its not enough and relies on students watching videos of techniques created in the pandemic. not good enough really. The technicians are very good, but at degree level, when paying so much for a course, shouldn't we be getting qualified academic teaching?
We only have contact with the course leader at the end of a module for a 20 min teams discussion and group launches of modules. Our work was photographed for marking and wasnt even examined for technical ability...photos prove you can make sh!t look good!!
Some lectures don't respond to messages or emails AT ALL! Despite a number of students emailing about the same thing.
The Vis Com was the best organised and delivered. It had comprehensive, considered feedback and students were given excellent guidance at the formative stage.
The 1st practical semester was generally good, despite a lack of materials and again had good formative feedback, but I think work should be marked physically and not remotely.
History and Context - not the most organised and most people used it as an excuse to bunk off. Attendance should be a condition of the course.
I have said I'll give it until the end of the year and see how I feel about carrying on as I have to pay my own fees and it has to be worth it. 30k of my own money NOT LOANS is a lot to pay when there are substantial chunks missing in teaching and learning. I have 1:1 in all my assignments so far but have become disheartened....I don't feel able to voice my concerns as it may be prejudicial to my future. No one likes a moaner.
