The best aspect or experiences I have had in this institution is the diverse opportunities offered to students from ethnic minorities backgrounds during the year 2022/23. I would say that my worst experience happened for the duration of the previous academic year , where in various occasions I felt discriminated against and the poor communication experienced which led to my studies being overwhelming. This last aspect had a negative impact on my mental health.

Some of the lectures were not interactive enough. After spending all the the years taking online exams, I am of the opinion that the rest of the course of studies and examinations should remain online as 3rd year students are not equipped or trained to the in person mode of examination.

I was expecting to experience more diversity and inclusivity when I moved to Canterbury. The cost of living is too high for a student.

I would have preferred if the cost was lower as it was during the pandemic and unfortunately I was unemployed.

I find the community of people around campus are all very friendly, and are all willing to be inclusive. There is a range of societies, meaning that I have been able to join a sport I never would have seen myself doing before. My lecturers are all brilliantly engaging, and there is a massive support network for both in-course and student life concerns. Lots of activities were on offer for free during welcome week, providing the means to meet a range of new people.

I have 10 hours of in-class teaching per week, in the form of leminars (engaging and inclusive lectures). They then encourage further learning in our own time, but offer lots of support with lecturers. The course is varied, and covers lots of the main aspects of criminology and forensics. The course is fascinating, and will provide great application skills when I enter the workforce.

The room is massively spacious, with a small double bed, bedside table, desk, shelves, wardrobe and ensuite. The hallways do get very warm, although I'm sure I won't be complaining in the winter. The kitchen has all the facilities that are needed, and the communal tidiness is entirely dependent on who you happen to live with. The washing machines are great value (£2.20 for a wash, and drying is free), with a very handy app to track which machines are in use. We have created a really lovely community between everyone living in Petros, and the easy access to the city centre, train station and campus are simply the cherry on top. Some have experienced issues with amenities such as lack of hot water, however my experience doesn't reflect that.
