Portsmouth university is very inclusive, there is a lot of support for all students and all staff are very accommodating and supportive. The classes are varied and I feel lecturers are open to discussions about how to improve lessons and how to make the most of our time when we are there. There are a lot of extra activities related to our studies if we wish to access them but are never pressured. As a mature student, they have been very flexible when I have had to juggle family and study which is incredibly important to me. It can be a challenge to be surrounded by much younger students and sometimes the lessons are tailored more to them than to older students but that is not something I begrudge as I am a minority. Over all it has been a very well rounded experience for me so far.

The course is mainly taught face to face and the lecturers are always open to meeting for extra support outside of timetabled sessions. I don't have experience of work placements so cannot give feedback on those at present. The assignments have been varied and lots of information is given to support students to submit work they're passionate about. I would personally prefer more seminars and practical activities in some modules instead of lectures.

Portsmouth is a busy city, there are a lot of spaces for eating/socialising and some beautiful architecture and cultural statues and buildings to enjoy. Public transport is varied but sometimes unreliable. Parking can be expensive and sometimes hard to find for drivers. There is an issue with litter at times and some unsanitary smells near pubs and clubs but they're not a big issue on a day to day basis.

The facilities are easily accessible and aren’t too far apart from each other. I wish there was more to do in the Union.

We have enough contact hours, and are told how to apply for work experience or if it is available. I wish we got more information on possible careers after a degree.

The hall is in an excellent location, at maximum a 15 minute walk from the university facilities. There are some safety concerns, such as a security door not having a magnet and therefore it cannot lock, and for only having flats and washing I think that the value for money isn’t great. The rent has gone up significantly from one year to another with only minor changed justifying it, so I don’t think rent should be as high as it is.
