The University of Portsmouth is a very professional-feeling place to study with lots of high end facilities that aren't commonly available at other universities, particularly in the school of Creative and Cultural Industries. There are dozens of close-knit societies to choose from, most being free to join, with unique chances to make friends and future connections. There's always something fun going on, and extracurricular events to help your university experience. The only real downside is the weather.

As Screewnriting is a very new course at the University of Portsmouth, the modules are entirely taken from other courses (mainly Creative Writing BA and Film Prodcution BA) and assembled together to form a course structure. The result is a few modules seen out of place or lacking contextual information, but the classes are all taught very well regardless, and lecturers actively encourage you to meet/call outside class for questions and extra help/info. The course is entirely in person (unless its very stormy) with a reasonable amount of hours per week, though the structure of which is irregular and prone to change. All in all, a very good course, but it's recommended you do some background learning on the subject before term starts.

Catherine house is a clean, relatively high-end self-catered accommodation with the price to match. Dorms are arrange to resemble apartments with rather small bedrooms, but still have all the required facilties at good quality

All the university buildings are in very convenient locations, especially in relation to the first-year accommodation flats (It takes me less than 2 minutes to get to my lectures from where I am). Portsmouth is a very nice city, and all the uni buildings are clean and modern. As a screenwriting student, I am very grateful for the studios we have, with the Eldon Building having some very advanced and very impressive facilities that are free for students to use.

Excellent faculties for any form of film studies. I wish the lectures for screenwriting had more focus on scripting instead of being a mixture of creative writing and film studies, however there are still opportunities to write scripts in the various modules.

It's the cheapest of the available accommodation options, and it definitely feels it. While nothing is great, it's all usable and it could be worse. The wifi doesn't seem to have many connection issues, however games consoles are unable to connect which is frustrating.
