Accommodation is decent, dining halls are a good place to socialise. Decent amount of societies, could be more. People aren't too social unless events are to do with drinking. Facilities/ computer labs are pretty good, good amount of study spaces. Easy access to Nottingham and Leicester (can't comment on them, not been). Everything you need in town, Spoons is nice (even though I don't drink). Lecturers are also alright. Best part for me is definitely the people and how close everyone is, so easy to organise things to do. Worst part is also the people, decent amount of people who have fragile egos and feel emasculated by everything, also big drinking culture, so can get loud in village + messy.

I have not seen my tutor since the first week, or anyone in my tutor group, bit weird. Some of the lecturers like spending an hour recapping things they've already taught us, some also like to really overcomplicate things. However, they do make some really good learning resources, so the lectures might not be too helpful but the resources for individual study are. The course is all in-person now but the lectures are recorded for access the day after. It's CompSci, so most people don't like coming out of their rooms, so will just watch the lecture the day after. Not met about half the people on my degree because of this, outside of messaging. The facilities are pretty good, lots of Macs and Windows PCs and Haslegrave (the CompSci building) is open 24/7 for CompSci students. The library is also open until 2am, so that's also pretty good. Can't really comment on careers or placements, I'm a first year, but I'd assume it's alright. Also, the breadth of the content is admirable.

Being at Uni adds a sense of responsibility. You are no longer treated like a child and you are given the freedom to make your own decisions in pretty much everything you do. It is a great experience and a fantastic opportunity to meet loads of potentially friends for life.
