Very welcoming people and environment, however, the split between east and west campuses can at times be frustrating.

My course is very online-heavy so far, with a shift to more in-person contact hours next term, however, it can feel isolating at times. The online lectures, however, feel surprisingly personable for pre-recorded videos.

Whilst more expensive than at times it feels it is worth, there are a number of amenities that make a strong case for the price being what it is, such as cleaning of the kitchen weekly, one catered meal a week, termly en-suite cleaning and numerous extra-curricular activities run by the college.

Pretty good uni, great people and city. The main problem is the housing. In order to get a decent house you have to be applying for houses in November for the next academic year, and considering York starts the academic year at the end of October that's ridiculous. And when you do get a house it is ridiculously expensive. I'm paying almost twice what people I know at other unis are paying, and I have done well to get cheap housing compared to other people I know in the city. I know people on the maximum maintenance loan amount and that still barely covers the cost of rent, and my maintenance loan is nowhere near covering it.

In second year one of my modules had no lecturer, they just used lectures made during COVID to teach the whole module. Other modules have been pretty well taught when there is a lecturer, but if You learn best with in person lectures / speaking directly to lecturers then forget about it, there's at most 3 hours of contact time per module (1 hr lectures 2hr in person practical sessions) but some lecturers don't turn up to practical sessions. I'm not sure how this compares to other universities post-covid, but there definitely feels like there should be more in person lectures, and COVID has been an excuse to reduce those.
