I'm currently doing my PhD here but I also did my undergrad here in Chemistry. The Chemistry department is fantastic in terms of staff, variety of teaching, amount of lab experience and small group teaching. I think people's opinions vary a lot depending on what course they do, but I can say if you're coming to Leicester for chemistry it's good. I'm now doing my PhD in biology. Because of what my research is I'm also part of one of the university's research institute, the LISCB. The LISCB has fantastic facilities and equipment as it is well funded, there is also a really nice welcoming and collaborative environment. Again I can't speak for the uni as a whole but the LISCB is great. In terms of the general things like students Union, campus, etc. everything is either good or average. I can also highly recommend the free counselling service.

I do a research degree as opposed to a taught one so there isn't much teaching. But we do have a doctoral training programme that it really good.

Halls are pretty standard, it's a bit annoying that the student village is so far from main campus but at least the bus is free.
