I have just started my PhD at Kingston and they have fantastic resources. I have my own office with two computer monitors which really helps my work. When i started the student support were really helpful in helping me find my way around and sorting out my library pass and a desk that is my own. My supervisor was also super helpful in showing me around the campus and helping me find my feet

Kingston is in general, a good place to study. Here are a few positives: - I have had good support from the lecturers (however, some are better than others, it really depends on who you get for each module you choose). Most of the time they reply to emails however sometimes I have had to email a few times before getting a response. The feedback from most lecturers is great, they really help with my assignments and read my drafts which is great. -The campuses are really nice, the library at Penrhyn road is fantastic and modern! I was based at Kingston hill and the library there was also great, 3 storeys and lots of space to study with cafes/social areas too. They have quiet areas where you can study individually too, which helps with avoiding distractions. -There are so many opportunities to network at Kingston. I’ve met so many employers and business people who have given me great advice on my career journey. -The PowerPoints are very simple and easy to follow. Lecturers always give us the opportunity to ask questions too. A few negatives -some lecturers aren’t very helpful and refuse to read drafts of the assignments they give. Some don’t respond to emails which is very frustrating -The prices of food on campus can be very expensive. A coffee and a sandwich comes to £8 which is rather a lot, considering we are students! -Some lecturers do these Kaboodle quizzes which are a bit childish I think, but that’s just me. -Kingston hill campus can be a bit of a mission to get to if you live outside of Kingston. I live in Croydon and it takes me an hour and a half just to get to uni on time. - Some lectures are 3 hours long which is far too long. -None of my lectures are online anymore. I much preferred the hybrid system (half online half on campus) as it meant I didn’t have to spend as much on travel. Overall I would recommend Kingston University, however my improvements would be; - Make the course a hybrid learning course (half online half on campus) as this is much better for those that live further away - Lower the price of food and coffee, it’s far too expensive for students - Make sure that all lecturers are willing to give feedback for draft assignments (some do this, some don’t). There needs to be more consistency.

Best aspects; - good support from some lecturers - good facilities (nice libraries etc) - friendly people (course leaders and tutors) - good feedback from some lecturers - good internship system Worst aspects -expensive food and coffee - hard to commute if you live out - fully on campus, no hybrid /blended learning which makes it hard for people who have to commute -need more support for finding an internship

A lot of jobs are available in the local area to help with the cost of living. I worked part time in Sainsburys whilst studying on campus and this helped me to pay my bills Graduate opportunities are pretty good and I’ve had a lot of interest in my applications since applying. This is probably because we did internships as part of our course which really helps you stand out in the job market.
