I actually love the life here!

Weekly seminars with different classmates, so I meet lots of new people. Everyone shares views from different countries — discussions never feel boring. I always leave with new thoughts about law, society and the world.

everything is good so far.

The best part of studying at the University of Birmingham is the balance between strong academics and genuine student support. The teaching is research-led and encourages critical thinking, and there are many opportunities beyond lectures, such as research roles, pro bono work, and employability-focused activities. As an international student, I also really value the inclusive and diverse environment, which makes it easy to settle in and feel part of the community. Because the university is quite large, it can sometimes take a bit of time to navigate all the opportunities available, especially at the beginning. However, once you become familiar with the systems and take initiative, there is a lot of support and guidance available.

The best part of the LLM International Business Law course at the University of Birmingham is the research-led and discussion-based teaching style. Most learning happens through in-person seminars, which encourages critical thinking, debate, and engagement rather than passive learning. I’ve also found the contact with lecturers very positive, they are approachable, supportive, and open to discussing ideas, feedback, and research interests. The flexibility to choose optional modules also allows you to tailor the course to your academic and career goals. The course expects a high level of independent study, which can feel demanding at first, especially if you’re adjusting to a new academic system. However, once you adapt and manage your time well, this approach becomes a strength rather than a drawback.
