For my degree, Bangor University has been the perfect choice. The Ocean Sciences Department is fantastic and I definitely feel like I am getting my money's worth compared to other universities. The student support facilities that have been offered to me during my time here so far have been fantastic and I really feel like the staff go above and beyond to help students. In addition to this, the support I have received for my disability has been a huge help. Being assigned with a peer mentor has allowed me to take the necessary steps towards learning how to manage my disability alongside my workload and, when I applied for counselling last year the uni was quick to assign me someone I could trust. My personal tutor here has also been extremely helpful in teaching me how to build my CV and show professionalism in the workplace. The only downside to studying at Bangor is that it can be quite isolating and it is difficult to find part time work in the area. There is a large variety of societies to join however, and joining one has provided me with opportunities to include on my CV so I would strongly recommend joining one.

My lecturers here at Bangor are fantastic, enthusiastic people who have used their experience to prepare me for a career in science. In particular, Martyn Kurr was a brilliant lecturer for first year because he felt very friendly and approachable and encouraged us to enjoy ourselves during his practical sessions. In addition to this, James Waggitt stands out to me as the best lecturer I have had so far. His approach to lectures is great and his teaching style is definitely my favourite. My course involves a very good mixture of lectures and practical sessions and going out on the university's research ship has been a highlight of my time here.

Compared to other universities the acommodation is very cheap and the rooms are also big. The halls are a short walk from the university campus and maintenance is very quick to sort any issues.
