Sutton bonington is a great campus. The staff really care about the students and there is a great sense of community. The facilities for bioscience need a massive update though. There aren’t enough research staff in teaching and it would be great if there was more investment in the bioscience buildings and labs. Like any university there are great things and things which can be improved. Faith and student support on campus are great - but you need to seek it the first place ( but this is pretty standard I’d imagine). 3rd year has certainly been the most enjoyable ( and hardest) year. I feel well supported by the university in my applications for future plans .

It’s hard to give a typical opinion of my course because I started in 2020 so most of my first and second year teaching was online with no practicals. The lecturers however are great and really try. If you engage with lectures then you will learn and take stuff away. Attendance in lectures though is a problem…. Maybe it’s an overspill of the covid online teaching but the lack of attendance does impact the learning environment. In some of my lectures there was only 5/50(ish) people!!!! But this is not an issue that’s isolated to just UoN … it’s kind of just a ‘student’ thing! Contact hours are low , it would be better if we had more teaching time but It’s hard to compare contact time especially when this course shares a campus with the vet school whose students are in 9-5 mon-fri. My tutoring experience has been interesting ( had 3 in 2 years) but I’ve always felt like I can approach my tutor if I have had a problem or question. They have also been really good at writing references and offering good advice about what to do next, and even suggesting other institutions ( either they’re trying to get rid of me or they really care about my progression haha). I have been challenged by some of the content in my modules but my degree covered a wide range of areas from biotechnology to bioethics ! As always more practicals and lab experience would be great.

CLV is a private halls company. Full rent was charged when it was illegal for us to return to campus because of the pandemic when other halls got refunds. We were forced into full self catering but the halls were made for partly catered so there wasn’t a massive cooking space. Halls were really expensive and not worth the money in my opinion. However this was 3 years ago and during covid lockdown and I have heard of people who loved their halls experience. I personally much prefer living in a student house but I appreciate this isn’t an option for everyone.

Beautiful campus, there were sufficient study spaces, good resources for students to support their studies. A wide range of extracurricular activities to choose from, loads of opportunities to participate in events planning to boost personal skills. I personally don’t like my campus as much as the main one as it’s very isolated from everything. I also don’t have much interaction with my lecturers and personal tutor.

Good content in first year to build a better foundation for further studies throughout the course. I wish we can have more animal related practicals as we only had two since the start of my course.

Very isolated as usual, terrible internet. Good management from the company, rooms were new and big.
