Best aspects: meeting new friends, the opportunity to work and earn money with the uni, joining societies and clubs as well as helping to run them, the campus itself Worst aspects: rushed into private housing for 2nd year and now stuck with students I do not get along with (aggressive and disrespectful)

Best: very interesting content across all modules Worst: some lecture halls need a better mic as struggle to hear, some lecturers make their lectures too content heavy so very difficult to take it all in and write adequate notes during the lecture - find it easier to just use the recordings instead which is a shame as nicer to be there in person

Like most: nice room layout, on suite, decent kitchen size, soundproof rooms-ish least like: building site opposite kept me from studying properly and the building site generator kept me up at night, not very social to mix with other students in blocks

Nottingham has great nightlife and UoN offers a wide range of societies making it easy to meet new people. The catered first year halls are particularly good and sociable. The city is ideal for students. Campus is beautiful and has many great facilities and brilliant lecturers. On the downside there are some technological improvements that need to be made. WiFi on many of the campus libraries is temperamental making it difficult to study efficiently. The UoN app often fails and timetables are often not accessible. I have also experienced issues with module changes where the University has failed to successfully enrol me onto chosen modules. Furthermore the extension approval process is slow which makes it very difficult to plan ahead.

There are many excellent lectures who deliver engaging and interesting topics especially in years 1-3. Most lecturers are easily contactable and offer good preparation for exams. There is a lot of contact hours but it is manageable , especially with exams being online. Years 1-3 are enjoyable with interesting contact and decent time in the lab. The course is very biology-based with little opportunity for chemistry to be practiced in years 1-3. In 4th year there is virtually no chemistry and the course basically transforms into a biology degree. 4th year modules are all biology modules and sadly the biochemistry aspect is completely forgotten. Many modules appear to be completely irrelevant and are just put in place to prevent masters student from spending too much time in the lab as the school does not want to pay for this. I would not recommend doing a masters degree in biochemistry unless you are heavily interested in biology, ecology and philosophy.

Boradgate Park has good facilities for a self-catered hall with modern kitchens and decent rooms with ensuite bathrooms. However there is no communal space so is harder to meet new people with on-campus catered halls having much better opportunities for socialising. It is also rather expensive compared to many other halls which have rooms that re just as nice. The location is good as it is just off campus, making it easy to get to lectures. However, for a more sociable first year I would recommend on campus catered halls.
