The smaller campuses give a family feel and it feels like you have lots of people behind you when studying. Majority of the staff on campus will know you by name which is lovely. You’re not just another number. The courses are quality and you really feel like you learn a lot. I’ve continued from my undergrad to my postgrad with this university and very pleased with both course contents. The campuses are beautiful and historically charming. People from home always said that it looks like I was studying at Hogwarts! Only negative I could say is that the locations of some of the campuses are a bit remote so if you’re looking for a city atmosphere with lots going on all the time, its not the place for you. However the students Union do put on events frequently!

For my masters, it’s all remote which is convenient for working simultaneously. The course is well thought out and the reading lists have lots of relevant and interesting content. The lectures are happy to have 1 on 1 calls with you to discuss your marks and help you improve. There’s also access to study skills sessions where you can have a call with someone who can explain and put you in the right path with tasks you may not understand. I switched course subjects quite drastically between undergrad and postgrad, so this was very helpful in getting used to a new required writing format. Only negative is even the part time can feel like a massive undertaking especially with a busy schedule. There is a lot of independent reading outside of the course hours. The lectures always tell us only to take on as much as we can but if you have issues with concentration as I do, just the mandatory piece can feel like a lot.

Carmarthen is a quite place so super safe majority of the time! You can walk in the night and usually won’t see a single soul. It’s quite small so walking is an option into town. But there’s quite a few taxis that run at a decent rate. Diversity is little to none.

The housing is cheap in comparison to every other university I considered which was a major pull factor. Each room has an en-suite so not sharing a bathroom was a luxury I’m sure not many uni students have. They also allow you to stay on campus all 3+ years of study which I know is a rarity. I would recommend staying on campus to anyone. Especially with the Carmarthen area, most people I know who moved into independent housing had a lot of issues with their landlords, plus it usually being more expensive. The halls are much more flexible and understanding to different circumstances. They also had rooms available for disabled persons in campus!

I study remotely, but have had a great experience with content and faculty communication

It is always disappointing that we cannot get to know each other better as students, but this is not the fault of the course. I really appreciate the staff and faculty’s sincere enthusiasm for the work.
