Safe feeling on campus.

No structure or routine and hardly any contact with tutors.

Felt really safe, expensive for what you get.

Newcastle has a great social side to it with different areas of town to suit different people. The uni is very close to the centre of town making it really easy and accessible to explore the centre. I think the improvement I would like to see is the university listening to the demands of its students in terms of where we receive funding and how it is distributed throughout the faculties, as the fine art department has seen cuts which have impacted the quality of education slightly. Also maybe a cheaper on-campus shop than a co-op. But from a general student perspective the uni gives you support and has a beautiful campus.

I like that the course encourages a studio practice, and is very sociable. the department is so friendly and inter-year friendships and conversations are encouraged and helpful. Contact hours are sufficient and there is always opportunity to sign up for more if you need them, this makes it flexible to your needs. Lecturers are there if you need extra help and seminars help consolidate art history knowledge. the variety of practitioners in the department offers varied opinion and expert advice on all kinds of art making. The worst part is probably how busy the technicians get, particularly in third semester. this can mean it takes a long time to get things done in workshops. print only open 3 days a week, so have to be thoughtful in how you use your time.

An en-suite room definitely worth the money. great facilities and location so close to uni. not the most social accommodation but definitely very comfortable. surrounding area is great, right next to exhibition park and you can see the trees from some windows. always warm and on-sight accommodation support are always there and easy to contact. never had any problems. Had a broken oven at one point but got sorted fairly quickly and easily. Quite spacious if you get the end room!
