Only been here for 5 to 6 weeks, currently things are seeming fine, biggest issue is commuting to 1 hour lectures then having to go home at 10 can get a bit irritating

Wish that the lecturers involved us with more practical teaching with softwares in the foundation subject in the workshop instead of leaving it to us to learn it ourselves

I love being at university. What I find difficult is the social side of things, but the university offers lots of opportunities to improve upon that. The sense of community could be improved upon with the art school - maybe through more cross-course interaction?

Absolutely fantastic. The art school is so incredible, I love it. There are so many workshops and facilities available to us, and provide opportunities that would be hard to come by otherwise. The library is amazing too, and the staff are very helpful

Extremely good. We can email our tutors any time, and are also encouraged to email tutors who are not our own personal tutor to ask for tutorials etc. The support for health and well-being is fantastic, and makes me feel like I have somewhere to go if I feel worried about anything.

Absolutely. It’s a five minute walk from another university so it feels lively and communal. It has gyms, shops, restaurants, bars, and cafés within a few minutes walk, and there’s always something going on.

There’s a wide range of societies and sports available. However, the majority of the sports clubs are competitive, and I think it would be much better if there were more aimed at learning the sport and having fun and being active.

What I like the least is that we’re not taught any classes that are skill based. I was expecting classes on painting, techniques etc, but there isn’t anything like that, which is very disappointing because I expected an art school would provide that kind of training. But I do love the freedom to explore subjects and mediums that the course allows for, and how the tutors provide feedback and advice that is tailored specifically to you.

Within the art school, there’s a wide range of events, opportunities, and workshops to help increase our understanding of employment and what that will entail in the creative industry. They really promote self-reliance and self-motivation to prepare us for working freelance too
