Liverpool Hope University offers an exceptional environment for studying, with its Creative Campus impressive art facilities that foster creativity. The technical staff provide unparalleled support, enabling students to explore their wildest ideas with freedom. The campus's café, staffed by wonderful individuals, creates a homely atmosphere and offers unwavering support to students. While university life presents challenges, open communication with tutors is crucial for overcoming obstacles.
It is imperative to seek guidance and support when faced with academic hurdles, as tutors should be ready to offer assistance and guidance every step of the way.
However, despite the myriad of opportunities presented by Liverpool Hope University, it is not without its shortcomings. One notable area of improvement lies in the lack of student events and society clubs on the Creative Campus, leaving students craving more avenues for social interaction and extracurricular engagement. Moreover, while the Creative Campus fosters a vibrant atmosphere of artistic exploration, there is a palpable sense of neglect in terms of student support and accessibility to events and disability services.
Nevertheless, despite these challenges, the journey through Liverpool Hope University is an enriching and transformative experience. It is a journey that pushes students to their limits, challenging them to surpass their own expectations and emerge as resilient, empowered individuals. Personally i think it is imperative that we address the shortcomings of the Creative Campus, striving to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students to thrive and succeed.

In my course, our schedule typically involves a full day of lectures and tutorials followed by a day with fewer tutorials and ample time allocated for studio practice. Our class sessions commence around 9 or 10 am and conclude by 5 pm, offering a structured framework for learning. Communication with tutors is ongoing, facilitated through email correspondence and one-on-one meetings, fostering a supportive learning environment.
One of the most beneficial aspects of my course is the opportunity for studio practice and participation in advanced workshops, especially those focusing on curation methods. The availability of tutors who are willing to conduct workshops on a wide range of art processes is particularly advantageous, allowing students to explore various facets of their craft.
However, there are certain challenges within the curriculum, particularly in relation to art history lessons. As a dyslexic individual, retaining information presented in a single day can be difficult, as I require additional time to absorb and review the material. Furthermore, the learning experience is often disrupted by other students' opinion-based questions, detracting from the focus of the lesson.
Another concern is the reliance on PowerPoint presentations without sufficient elaboration from tutors, leading to a lack of depth in understanding. Additionally, the absence of recorded lessons and alternative printed materials for PowerPoint presentations or tutor notes poses a significant obstacle for dyslexic students like myself.
Moreover, the utilization of Moodle, while intended to facilitate learning, proves to be highly confusing, as there is a lack of guidance on how to navigate the platform effectively. This further complicates the learning process and detracts from the overall educational experience.
In summary, while my course offers valuable opportunities for practical experience and skill development, there are areas that require improvement to better accommodate the diverse learning needs of students, particularly those with specific learning challenges like dyslexia. Addressing these concerns would enhance the overall learning experience and ensure that all students can thrive academically.

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
I reside in the Creative Campus accommodation, which offers a secure and relatively safe living environment. Situated just a 10-minute walk from the city center, the location provides convenient access to transportation and city amenities, making it an attractive choice for students. The atmosphere within the campus accommodation exudes a sense of warmth and homeliness, although at times, it can feel reminiscent of living under strict school-like regulations.
For instance, there are stringent rules in place regarding the use of certain items such as candles, wax melts, and incense, which are prohibited. Additionally, students are restricted from using cooking appliances other than those provided, which can be perceived as overly restrictive. The laundry facilities pose another challenge, as the dryers often fail to dry clothes adequately in a single cycle, leading to additional expenses and inconvenience. Moreover, issues with maintenance and cleanliness contribute to unpleasant experiences, with machines sometimes leaving clothes with a mildew odor.
Furthermore, the Wi-Fi service presents limitations, allowing primarily for academic work and research, with restricted access to streaming services and online multiplayer games. This restriction can be frustrating for students seeking leisure activities beyond academic pursuits.
Concerns also arise regarding ventilation and hygiene, as the limited ability to open windows contributes to mold issues within the halls. Additionally, frequent fire alarm checks, though essential for safety, can disrupt students' concentration and work routines. Moreover, interactions with onsite student residents conducting well-being checks, while well-intentioned, can sometimes be perceived as intrusive and disruptive to students' activities.
However, it's worth noting that the student residents are extensively trained to provide support and guidance to their peers, actively engaging students in campus events and initiatives to foster a sense of community and involvement in student life. Despite the challenges posed by certain regulations and maintenance issues, the presence of dedicated student support staff contributes positively to the overall living experience within the Creative Campus accommodation.
