OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
I have loved every minute of uni. I have made friends for life and have really enjoyed my course. The modules have been so fascinating and the lecturers have all been great. The societies that I have joined have been amazing and I have had so much fun these past 3 years. Now it is my final year, the lecturers have been outstanding giving guidance on dissertations and also bringing forward career options.
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
We have lectures dedicated to teaching us about our career choices and how we can get into them ourselves. There is a careers department who offer us volunteering opportunities or make us aware of internships. The people will help offer us to write a good CV and how to be professional in interviews.
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The best thing is how helpful all the lecturers are on my course. They will help if you are struggling on an essay, in your personal life or deadlines. They are all easily approachable and will offer you to make an appointment if you need their help. The course is brilliant! All the modules are very interesting and they offer a wide range of field trips to aid the understanding.
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
The Students' Union is extremely helpful. They also help if you are struggling and will offer to aid you to make it better. The people are very nice and approachable. The building where they are situated is very nice to drink coffee, shop or just do work.
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Great! Big bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living area. Fast Wi-fi and quite a quiet area for student housing. Not far from the uni and shops so really convenient.
How good are your university's facilities?
The facilities are great. The library is easy to navigate, fully packed of books for my course, quiet places to study or group places and has a range or computers and laptops. The swimming pool/ fitness suite is great as i helps keep fitness levels up. The campus shops are good as you can buy books, pads, stationery, food or uni merchandise- so a lot is on offer.
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
The city is fantastic!! It's not too big and not too small but there is a variety of shops. They are welcoming to students and the night life is very entertaining. Most shops have deals for students so that is very handy and most people hire students because we are so flexible for hours. Many places to visit, eat or walk round. I love Chester.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
The clubs and societies are very varied. There are so many choices and offer a wide range from sports to disney/ harry potter. It is a great way to make new friends and get away from the stress of assignments.
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
The support is great. The tutors give very detailed and handy comments back from assignments and allows me to establish a better understanding of where I went wrong. They will explain where you went wrong in person if you still are confused but not in a condescending way- it is very relaxed and again, approachable.
