Cheltenham is amazing! Such a lovely town and a lot different to the small quiet town I come from in Dorset (in a good way). Plenty of shops, not too small but not too big, plenty of things to do, as well as surrounded by countryside. The location is great! There are endless amounts of support that the university can give you and you feel genuinely cared about as a student which is something I really appreciate. The campus I go to at Francis Close Hall looks amazing, especially in the autumn. The area is kept very neat and tidy and is well looked after. I love the campus cats and always go up to pet them whenever I see them!

As I’m in my first year and it’s still early days, I can’t say too much about the course content as we have only covered two modules. At the moment the modules we are doing are going over the foundation of psychology (a lot of which I have already covered in a level) so everyone is at the same level of each other. However, I’m looking forward to studying the modules specific to my course in the near future. I love my lectures! They’re very friendly and supportive. They’ll answer any questions you have and are great to have conversations with. They clearly are experienced and know what they’re doing. Similarly, with tutor contact time, I get offered plenty of support and am able to discuss anything I have on my mind or am confused about relevant to the course or university as a whole. I find it very useful and helpful.

As everyone probably knows , the cost of living isn’t great, especially for university students so I won’t really need to elaborate on that. I have personally felt safe, however I’ve heard other stories of other people at university who have come across issues regarding their safety, such as spiking of drinks. I personally find the public transport confusing so I just walk everywhere. There are many different diverse people, so diversity isn’t an issue.

The location is okay, however, it is quite a distance from anything else in Cheltenham other than the park. My campus Francis Close Hall is about a 20 minute walk, and town is also about a 20ish minute walk. It probably doesn’t bother me as much as other people though, as I’m used to walking a lot and it lets me get lots of exercise. You can catch a bus from the student village to the town/university campuses which a lot of people do. However, I personally find the bus system confusing so I just walk instead. The internet is great and very fast, haven’t had any issues with it. The safety is good. There are security at the campus and people you can call if you do feel unsafe. There are also gates that only student can get into, however my building I live in isn’t within these gates, but that doesn’t really bother me. Access into my building feels very secure as you need to unlock two doors to actually get in, so intruders are very unlikely.

Good location and environment.

Everyone must be more understanding and teachers must give more attention to each student.
