Glasgow is a great university for getting creative and working hard in a good atmosphere and ambience. You should be prepared for being far away from major cities and also a bit far from your family whom you will meet in your holidays. Don't come expecting a big night life, come for the uni.

Best: Glasgow is an amazing city to live in, and the university is located in a lovely area. I've found my school to be very supportive and approachable as well.
What could be improved: Currently the housing situation in Glasgow is very tight, and rents have increased substantially during my time here. However, Glasgow is still a comparatively affordable city.

Overall I am satisfied with the quality of my course. At times, I would have liked the material to be more challenging. The department is very open to hosting summer internships (although funding has to be arranged separately).

Despite its reputation, I've found Glasgow (and particularly the uni's West End) to be a very safe and friendly place! I would recommend living close to the university, as buses can be unreliable (however, for under-21s they are now free!).

Like all uni-run halls, it's a little walk from campus (15 mins typically). However that walk passes through the Botanic Gardens, which I found to be a great way to start the day. Amenities are the same as everywhere. My room was newly refurbished in 2018. Especially with the current housing crisis, I do believe Winton is good value for money.
