Bimm is an amazing place to study. The lecturers, students and other staff are all amazing people who all want to see each other thrive.
The facilities are top notch for anyone interested in music as their are rooms you can book out for mixing, recording, band practice or you can get a mac suite and book out equipment you’d like to use such as DJ decks for practice or a synthesiser.
The location isn’t the best as it can be quite rough around there but I think it’s a great place for a creative university to be. The surrounding area is a hub of creation in Birmingham which makes it perfect for Bimm.
Student support is absolutely amazing at Bimm, the staff there truly just want to help you as much as they can and if you have any problems at home or with any aspect of your personal life they will help you as much as they can. Help from student support is literally an email away and can meetings be setup very quickly.
The campus is quite small but as it’s a small university, it’s not a problem at all. It has a very unique feel to it, while I’m there I feel comfortable, safe and very creative.
Student life at Bimm is enjoyable and there’s always more things that you can get stuck into. There’s a load of societies that you can join to find friends with similar interests or you can make your own! There’s a weekly email sent out to all students where you can find out about masterclasses being put on, live gigs being played in the surrounding area, quizzes being hosted by Bimm and a bunch of other fun activities to join in.
My overall experience at Bimm so far has been fantastic, I’d been to a different university before coming here where I didn’t have a great time so I was quite worried about how everything would go but the experience I’ve had so far has just been overwhelmingly positive.

As it’s a creative course, the university tries not to make everyone come in all the time for classes which is perfect as it means we have more time to improve our craft or work. Just like any course, there are some modules of it which aren’t the most enjoyable and can seem a little boring but everything that I’ve learnt so far will be a huge help later in my career
All the classes are in person and for my course mostly quite small groups which is great as you are able to get more specific help from the lecturers. All of the lecturers are people who have worked or still are working in the music industry which means you are learning from people with first hand experience. You can book one to one tutorials with any of the lecturers, even if the don’t teach on your course, where you can talk to them about anything at all.

BIMM Bristol has exceeded my expectations and with the newly built Moon Street campus in the heart of Bristol, the first class facilities and lecturer make it a no brainer. I’m only halfway through year 1 and I’m already considering and aiming to go on to complete a Masters here at BIMM.

The best aspects are the lecturers, the facilities and opportunities. BIMM is majorly connected with the local Bristol music scene which is very good for up and coming artists, aspiring live sound engineers and recording engineers/ producers. The scene is very rich in Bristol and BIMM I think puts you a step ahead of the game especially considering half the lecturers are still very active within their fields in the Bristol scene so lots of connections and a large network of professionals is instantly available to you.

Bristol is the best city in the uk. Bold and opinionated view but it is true. Such a rich and diverse palette of cultures, and is I think, the cultural and musical epicentre of the southwest of the UK. High cost of living like most cities, lots of crime like most cities, however one of the closest knit cities I’ve been too. A very broad community and I think the recurring theme throughout this place is wholeheartedly be yourself, whoever you want, and let every one else be themselves. Very much a 21st century city, with a lot of history.
