University rating
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
Having a great time with learning, staying active and being social. The teaching is top notch and there are plenty of clubs and societies to cater to everyone. Chances are, you can find the best group of friends in each and every club and society.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Well stocked library with decent computers
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Academic tutors are very engaged and contactable but can seem distant with approaching for personal issues. The university's approach to personal issues is that students facing problems come forward and seek help. However people who are facing problems tend to try and sort it out themselves or rely on their close social network, so the university needs to be actively approaching students to check on their wellbeing.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Decent but not very well managed. Apart from bars and the occasional concerts, the Students' Unions don't organise much else
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Plenty to see and do with nice parks for fresh air and greenery
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Plethora of clubs and societies so there's always something (mostly more than one club) for everyone as it caters to a wide range of tastes
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The medical programme is well structured and organised but coursework in pre-clinical years can seem contrived
How many contact hours per week do you have?
15
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
Preparation for clinical practice and introduction of GMC guidelines
