The facilities and the staff are absolutely amazing. They provide constant support and the lecturers or seminar tutors are very skilled and knowledgeable. They’re always willing to help and push you one step further to do your best. There’s are so many opportunities available, including placements and other experience whilst studying, the course content is broken down so it is easy to understand but it’s also really useful and really good to apply. The skills I’ve learnt at DMU are some I’ve used in everyday life and have really developed me as a person

Whilst I’m on my placement year, in the last couple of years (during covid mostly) a lot of teaching was online - I prefer being taught in person. With that being said, as covid measures eased - more and more in class learning was prevalent. There’s always plenty of support available, not only from tutors, but also the university’s wellbeing team. I was going through a very tough time in my second year whereby my mum passed away of cancer. The university was so supportive and accommodating, They even helped me find a placement last minute and I came out with a good grade. The library facilities are brilliant, and so are the leisure facilities. I love the many different societies and clubs we have, it’s always great to get involved. I do wish there was more opportunity for student parking, however other than that it’s a really good uni.

Cost of living can be high - especially with going out, takeaways can be expensive. However there are always great deals and things you can do with friends for cheap. It’s just all about looking around and finding out. I’m a Muslim and halal food is really important to me, I’m really glad that the university provides some really good halal food options. Because of the university’s great location, there’s plenty of halal food shops nearby too at a reasonable price. I feel very safe at university. The on site 24/7 security team are always on hand to help at any point. Public transport is great, the university is in the heart of leicester from where I can take a bus or train to just about anywhere. There are lots of part time work activities, both on and off campus, I’ve not struggled to find a job. The team at university even help you with your CV, interview and give you tips on applying. The university works with many company’s to provide not only placement but also graduate role opportunities. Leicester is the home to many companies and there are many graduate jobs available. The diversity is amazing in leicester, and is very well reflected in DMU’s student experience. I can be who I want to be and I can find many likeminded people, and I can also meet so many new people and learn about different cultures.
