The social aspect is great it’s easy to meet new people and the location allows you to go around and visit places even during if you have gaps between your timetable in a day. It’s also really great school work wise and all the staff are very helpful. The lecturers are all very enthusiastic about what they teach and are always willing to help you. It is the opposite of what we’re told before we start uni that we have to study all on our own. At LSBU they make sure that we understand the work and are always there to guide us they provide support in all aspects of uni life from the school work to support with your mental health, any learning difficulties, issues such as harassment etc. and even help with finding a job which they continue to do even after you graduate. They’re also really helpful in finding opportunities such as networking events, internships etc. The timetabling is also good and the lecturers are really understanding if you go to them with concerns about your timetable. You will always finish before 5, personally with my course I only have had uni 2-3 days this year but they also have optional online classes which allow you to talk with your lecturer or seminar leader about any questions you have, which is one of the many ways the staff are ready to help. I do love the Southwark campus as the more recently built buildings such as the LSBU hub, Keyworth centre and K2 are all very modern and nice to be in but I do wish to see some of the buildings be improved as some of them do not look or feel as nice and inviting as the others. The architecture of the buildings from the outside of the buildings are nice apart from buildings like the faraday wing and student centre but the interior does feel in the need of some refurbishment. However, I do like how a lot of the buildings are connected so during the winter there is no need for you to go outside to get to another building but this is only true for the older buildings. I would like to see the buildings remain connected from within. The food options within the university aren’t amazing and I believe there should be more actual food shops within the school as the options that are provided now aren’t that great and the food is not great. Although because of where the university is we have access to so many options for food, and this gave an opportunity for me and my friends to bond outside of university.

The course in general so far has been great, even when it has been difficult my lecturers and seminar leaders have supported us through it and constantly have made sure we are all following. If you need to contact your lecturers or seminar leaders there are multiple ways to do this, they have their office hours posted on their outlook, you can email them, you can set up a teams meeting, you can contact them through messaging if you really need to etc. They also provide optional online classes in which anyone can go to and ask questions about whatever they need which run every week. Some lecturers also provide pre recorded lectures but if the lecturers don’t and you would like them to there are surveys for each semester on how each module leader can improve the module and you can provide feedback. Students can even tell their module leaders directly as you are likely to have a lot of the same lecturers and seminar leaders in the following years, which they have told us themselves. Sometimes it does feel like lecturers have to extend the lectures which ends up with them rambling as a lot of the first year content is simple to understand but this is rare and most of the time they try to keep it as short as possible.
