For a country and land based college the facilities are very good. Lecture theatres and library modernised and fit for purpose. Clean, well ran and well kept indoor and outdoor areas. Plenty of car parking spaces for day students. Has it's own zoo, farm and kennels, perfect for animal sector students. Study pods can be booked for meetings and studying. Set on the edge of a town, close to amenities but still in the country not rural. The right lecturers really put a lot of effort into supporting and getting to know students but this isn't consistent across all lecturers. Always student events going on on campus but nightlife in the town is there but nothing amazing.

This is a bit of a dead end course. Yes the content is interesting, its science but career options afterwards are minimal without further study, is it really worth the money? I feel experience in industry for this sector would benefit students more if they don't wish to complete further higher education. This university has access to amazing facilities but they are completely under used in teaching, incorporating more practical learning could really provide valuable experience for students in the working world. A practical husbandry module was included but content was poor no real skills were learned. A module that included gaining work experience, no help was given by the university to find a placement, considering the sector it is surprising this university has no links with business or employers for work experience. Certain lecturers are really talented at teaching and know there subjects well, they have interesting backgrounds and help keep students engaged. This is not consistent though some lecturers teaching style is boring and hard to understand. One lecturer in particular was very poor and had no idea what she was talking about. During my 3 years here staff turnover was high and teaching time was often lost when staff were lost without immediate replacements. Career guidance is offered by university of Chester for so many years after grad but upon looking into this it was not available to reaseheath students. The career department at reasheath was meant more for the college students and wasn't very helpful. They do highlight they can help with Cvs however by university age I think this is already understood and no advice could be given that a Google search cannot. The career department lacks the local knowledge and business links that are not available from a Google search. When asked what graduates have gone into after study, the answer was not known. The course content needs to be changed to provide graduates with skills or qualifications for the working world especially in this sector where it is well known that experience is essential. Tutors are easily available to book 1:1 meetings. Assignments were stressful and depressing but isn't any university like this. Frustrating when marking seemed to be biased based on the lecturer marking as some seem to understand the marking criteria differently than others. Assignment submission is supposed to be anonymous but not really sure of this.

Nice little town plenty of shops, restaurants, bars. Always a part time job going. Trains available to Manchester nearby. Can walk into town in about 15 minutes but also relaxing country setting. Minibus service to supermarkets. Feels very safe.
