I absolutely loved my three years at University of Glamorgan/South Wales. Cardiff in general is so friendly and welcoming, with so much going on. I went to the Atrium building there in the centre, to study music - the building was amazing, super facilities and equipment compared to some other Unis I considered, loads of things were brand new and pretty much everything worked all the time (which for a music department is not overly common!). I stayed at the halls right beside the Atrium, I think they're called something new now but they were called Ty Pont Haearn, there were a lot of floors, something like 23. Quite expensive but lovely little neat modern rooms with ensuite bathrooms and safe, heavy duty doors with a key card locking system. I never felt unsafe, though obviously always lock your door to keep your valuables safe. The staff were excellent, I'd advise any new students to always ask questions and make the most out of your time there, because it's easy to go through your degree expecting to be spoonfed your education like in Secondary School... you get out of it what you put in! But yeah, the staff were great and the course content very interesting. The only things I'd say as a slight negative were that most of the Uni Societies were out at the other campus in Treforest, which is a train ride away from the Atrium so I didn't bother with them and I would've liked to. There is a small Student's Union in Cardiff but it's not much compared to the one in Treforest or compared to the Cardiff Uni one. Having said all that, there is always plenty to do in Cardiff and you can easily find ways to meet other students. All in all it was an amazing three years doing music, I can't recommend any other courses but that one was good, and the Atrium campus was great.
