Harper is a great uni, would recommend it to anyone thinking about going, you'll find not only friends for life but people you'll consider to be family. Its not like many other universities, but if you like being out in the countryside and a relaxed campus community feel then Harper is a great choice. Its great having the harper farm on site to go out for crop walks or do practical work outdoors in a similar environment to what you would find out working.

Facilities such as the library and study spaces are great, its the perfect place to go and work without distraction of your housemates at home. The spaces are always clean and are in a welcoming environment. However, I think there should be more sporting facilities and cater for more people offering more options.

The support at the university is great from the lecturers and course tutors, if you ever need to speak to them they will always make time and help as much as they can. They're very understanding and want you to do as well as you can. However, the mental health support in my opinion needs improvement, as I think more should be done particularly with it being an agricultural university and that area is very susceptible to mental health problems.

Our lectures and tutorials can be really insightful and engaging, although there are some that I and others feel could use better explanations to help us with our assignments. Although our course tutors are brilliant, last year I had a few issues being able to complete the work, due to circumstances out of my control, she along with some of my lecturers were incredibly helpful with allowing me some extra time to complete them, as well as helping me catch up on any work missed.

In my personal experience the placement department did help as with covid it has been a challenging year, although I do think more could be done to support job opportunities as after the normal deadline passed I did feel a little on my own trying to find a placement without much support.

It was a great place when I started, although the Harper culture is dying out as people who aren’t like minded join the university. Although it’s nice to see diversity, it doesn’t always have to come at the cost of tradition. The uni still offers good support systems for people struggling although it needs to remember to support its student bodies in social aspects as well, otherwise it will find itself loosing students fast. There is still a good continuous investment in offering good courses and relevant material as well, which makes the degrees engaging.
