OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
So far my experience is much better than what i thought, the university is always full of life and always has events to bring the students together and interact with one another.
Id recommend this university to any and everyone i meet and know.
Job Prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
There is a dedicated team on campus that sole purpose is to help students find a career path in their field of study, if your a 1st year this same team will help fun job fairs where outside companies come to the campus and you can talk to them and get their contact details.
As for transferable skills any student can apply to become a student ambassador and get training in this and then work for the university ad uni events or even off campus and none uni related and you will also be paid per hour.
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
What i love most about the teaching is, when there is a big group of students, you normally go into one of the big lecture halls and in this hall the lecturer talks over a microphone and speakers so even if you are way at the back you'll hear them, if their is material being shown on the projector and you are at the back of the room there is also 2 large monitors that show the same as the projector there is one left and right side of the hall.
The thing i least like about the teaching of the course, well that's a hard on as i haven't found anything that i do not like as of yet.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
16
Students' Union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
I love the students union, if you need help of any kind then that is the place to go, the people there are very friendly and are eager to help you where they can.
I soon will be part of them when i become a course representative and student ambassador.
Accommodation
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
-Spacious room
-Room has everything a student would possibly need, bed, work table, toilet with shower and basin, with ample storage area including a wardrobe, shelves above table with wall mounted shelves and draws in the desk as well as a metal basket that's under the bed.
The shared kitchen for the non studio apartments on campus is very big, has a full size fridge and full size freezer, with a 4 plate stove and a 2 part oven unit, also comes with kettle, toaster, microwave and a tv and a sofa couch.
Uni Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Facilities on campus, there is a fully equipped gym, medical building, library with computers, on campus grocery store, hair dresser, night club, pub and several food places, the accommodation services office is 24/7 all these services is with in 5 min walk from your accommodation, there are several more that i have not mentioned here but can be seen on the universities main site.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
The city life is absolutely wonderful, this also depends on which city you want to go to as the train network is very well placed and setup so within mins you can be in the capital city of Cardiff or the local city near the campus of Pontypridd.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
The clubs on and around campus are always lively and there are so many societies that i have lost count, there is probably a society of each person out there, all you need to do is just ask about and you'll find them.
Student Support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
The support offered by the uni is 5 star, meaning if your unsure about anything you can head to the esquires offices on campus or send them an email and you'll get a response within 48 hours.
If your stuck on your course work you can email your lecturer and make an appointment with them and they will be able to help you or they might even send you some material to make it more clear if that doesn't work they will sit down with you on that appointment and help you one on one.
As for counseling the student union representatives will be able to help if you need help in anyway.
