To offer a comprehensive degree for students studying Zoo Science and Wildlife Conservation, fostering the development and improvement of their knowledge, skills, and scientific/technical expertise in evaluating animal health, welfare, conservation, and behaviour. This aims to enhance their ability to effectively manage animals, conserve nature, and provide students with knowledge and skills that can be applied across diverse fields. Objectives: To provide a comprehensive programme of study, based on QAA benchmarks and professional standards in the field of Zoo Science and Wildlife Conservation. To equip students with a solid foundation of the biological, ecological and husbandry principles that underpin zoo science and conservation. To promote an understanding of the ethical issues related to animal welfare, conservation practices, and the role of zoos in society. To equip students with essential practical, technical, and academic skills, enabling them to advance into a Level 6 Bachelor of Science degree or a career within the animal management and conservation sector. Assist students in cultivating a diverse set of transferable skills and competencies necessary to navigate the dynamic landscape of animal management, conservation and related industries. Enhance students’ ability to communicate effectively in a range of formats, tailoring messages to diverse audiences, including peers, professionals and the public. Overarching aim: To offer a comprehensive degree for students studying Zoo Science and Wildlife Conservation, fostering the development and improvement of their knowledge, skills, and scientific/technical expertise in evaluating animal health, welfare, conservation, and behaviour.
