This MSc in User Experience Design is designed for graduates from any undergraduate background who want to develop the skills to design innovative, inclusive, and future-focused user experiences across multiple channels and platforms. You will be encouraged to think critically, collaborate inclusively, and push the boundaries of what design can achieve. Through modules in user centred and visual design, front end development, accessibility, research and usability testing, and immersive technologies design, you’ll gain a blend of creative, technical, and research-based skills. You will also benefit from the expertise of academics, researchers, and industry professionals who bring real-world insights directly into the classroom. The MSc User Experience Design gives you the skills and portfolio to launch as a UX professional. You’ll learn front-end development, visual design, accessibility, and usability testing with insights from industry experts. Guided by our ethos, User First. Team Always. Design Beyond you’ll put people at the heart of design, collaborate in diverse teams, and push boundaries to shape your future in UX. Assessments will be comprised of a mix of individual and group work where you will be required to present coursework through a combination of oral presentations, formal reports, and demonstrations of products. This will enable you to develop broader professional skills required in industry and academic environments (i.e. working effectively in teams, clearly communicating complex concepts, time management in working towards multiple deadlines, etc.), as well as providing an opportunity to develop your design thinking and critical reflection skills.
Applicants are normally expected to have a minimum of a 2:2 honours degree, or equivalent. We will consider applicants from a wide range of backgrounds broadly related to User Experience Design (including but not limited to Computing, Gaming, Engineering, Business, Marketing, Psychology, Law, Art and Design).
Applicants will need to be interested in the technological and scientific approaches to User Experience Design, and all applications require a personal statement to demonstrate interest in the subject.
