Study STEM

Our new STEM building is part of a £180m investment in our facilities to transform our campuses and provide the best possible experience for our students.

Opened in September 2019, the new building at the Luton campus is dedicated to teaching and research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Set out over four storeys, the STEM building incorporates 6000m2 of teaching and laboratory space, which allows us to offer a wide range of new STEM courses, including Pharmacology and Health Science, Nutrition, Cybersecurity, Biochemistry, and Mechanical and Automotive Engineering.

The new STEM building includes modern, well-equipped laboratories including specialist analytical laboratories for life sciences teaching and research. It also has a dedicated space for histopathology and mammalian cell culture, as well as biometric devices such as iris scanners, 2D and 3D face recognition, palm vein readers, and fingerprint and signature recognition equipment. Our new building houses robotic equipment including humanoid robots, robotic arms and wheeled robotic platforms, and there are kits such as Lego Mindstorms to build, program, test robots and dismantle and rebuild PC hardware.

Financial support

Bursaries and scholarships to support your studies:

• Bursary - 112 UCAS tariff points, or equivalent, the bursary is worth £1,500 over 3 academic years.
• Scholarship - 112 UCAS tariff points or more, or equivalent, the scholarship is worth £2,400 over 3 academic years.
• Foundation Year Bursary – worth £2,000 for those studying an integrated four-year course.
