Overview

Our School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies is home to a diverse group of courses in the fields of animation, business technology, computer games, computer science, concept art, construction management, cyber security, engineering and visual effects. Through education enriched by research, innovation, and engagement with business and the professions, we develop the next generation of problem solvers, innovators and leaders that employers and society need.

Animation, Concept Art and Visual Effects

• We are ranked 18th in the world in the Animation Career Review International Animation School Rankings 2022.
• Gain skills in visual effects, sculpting, compositing, character animation, 2D animation, motion capture and stop motion.
• Learn in dedicated drawing spaces, recording and motion capture studios, sound stage with green screen and motion control cameras.
• Take part in Animex, our animation and games festival featuring experts from Pixar, Disney and Sony.
• Our graduates have gone on to work at studios like Framestore and Ubisoft.
• All our courses offer an optional work placement year.

Computing and Cyber Security

• Specialise in systems analysis, client server technologies, cyber security, multi-platform app development and production, computer networks, programming, AI, UX, .net, iOS, Android, Unix and Windows phone environments.
• Work on industry briefs and competitions with companies including Cisco, Cubic Transportation Systems, Sage, TUI, Atombank, HMRC and Waterstons.
• Learn in industry-standard computing labs to undertake development projects and build innovative prototypes.
• Gain skills for a career in a range of sectors.
• All our courses offer an optional work placement year.

Computer Games

• Specialise in game art, design, development or programming.
• Learn in specialist facilities including a motion capture studio with industry-standard systems including full body and facial capture systems, 3D scanning and state-of-the-art 3D printing along with Kinect lab and a dedicated games lounge equipped with an array of consoles, games and peripherals.
• Our graduates are working at studios on games such as Grand Theft Auto and Batman: Arkham Knight. Take part in our animation and games festival featuring experts from Pixar, Disney and Sony.
• All our courses offer an optional work placement year.
