Lancaster University

Lancaster University has a nice feeling to it's campus. Lecture theatres and seminar rooms are well laid out across campus and the college facilities are good. The library is spacious and you can normally find a seat easily. The location of the uni is good and there are frequent bus connections to the city. Content is interesting and some lecturers are really good. I think the facilities are a bit run down / old now - some of the lecture theatres have broken desks/the library toilets are normally deficient in soap/working taps/working cisterns. Student support could be improved - more regular contact with academic tutors across all degrees and not just certain degrees.

Student union seems a little inefficient and a bit biased in funding for certain sports. Needs to be fair environment as sport is very important for mental health and cutting teams isn't beneficial and can put of freshers from joining societies as they won't get to play in their first year

The greenery around campus is superb and the whole feel of the place is close nit. Though the gym could be improved and needs it

Lancaster is such a nice area to study in, especially on campus as there is plenty of spaces to study with friends, or quietly alone and it's such a nice environment! I also have found campus really easy to navigate and there is always lots of super friendly students available around to help if you get lost, especially as a first year who was initially worried about getting lost on the way to lectures. My only suggestion on improvement is a bigger focus on environmentally friendly facilities such as making sure there is recycling bins in most rooms (including accommodation rooms) as it makes it a lot easier to separate rubbish when making trips to take bins out or just using bins in lecture rooms during societies etc. From the student union I really like how there is often the Farmer's Market appear in the square, as well as other things such as plant and poster sales, as it really makes university life enjoyable to pop by and look at these sales in between lesson times etc. Overall Lancaster University is a really great place to study and has had a really big impact on my wellbeing as a student in this first term!
