If you are a graduate engineer beginning your career in the construction industry, this course is ideal. This MSc meets the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) if you already have an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng (Hons) degree. In addition, it is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building.Please note: from September 2026 entry onwards, the course title will be Structural Engineering MSc. The delivery and content of the course remain the same.You will gain a strategic overview of construction management issues alongside advanced structural engineering.This course will prepare you to work at managerial level for a consultant or contractor. Each module combines a stimulating mix of lectures, practical laboratory work, group work, case studies and presentations.At our Penrhyn Road campus, you will have access to a modern environment with the latest technology and industry-standard equipment, including:extensive materials and structures for concrete, masonry, steel and timbergeotechnical and hydraulics testing facilitiessurveying equipment, such as satellite global-positioning systemsDedicated computer-aided design facilities include:a range of CAD/CAM packages, such as Ideas, SolidWorks and AutoCadfinite element analysis‚ computational fluid dynamicsvirtual instrumentation
The typical offer for this course is a 2:2 or above honours degree or equivalent in either civil engineering or structural engineering. Candidates with suitable industrial experience will also be considered.
