Our course is a dedicated distance learning postgraduate degree, which focuses on you as the practitioner.
It’s underpinned by science, which ensures a balance between academic theory and field-based coaching skills.
Why study with us
We work alongside British Weightlifting and the UK Strength and Conditioning Association.
We’re just one of two universities which partner with the Football Medicine and Performance Association (FMPA) – this means a direct link to the football industry.
The course is delivered by industry experts with many years practitioner experience at National and International level.
Future careers
Our Strength and Conditioning graduates work as self-employed coaches in a large variety of team-sports, combat sports, strength-based sports, and endurance sports. Many also work within clubs, teams, and organisations, and deliver Strength and Conditioning support to a large range of audiences such as school PE lessons, recreational, semi-professional and professional athletes, and special population groups. A large number of our graduates have secured careers, promotions or new business opportunities as a result of taking the MSc in Strength and Conditioning.
Applicants should hold a 2:2 degree or equivalent professional experience or learning in a related field such as sports science or strength and conditioning.

A modern institution with nearly two centuries of educational heritage, UCLan was established in 1992 but can trace its roots all the way back to 1828. There are currently around 200 postgraduate courses on offer, designed to equip students with industry-ready skills and prepare them to excel in the next stage of their career.
The university’s main campus is located in Preston, Lancashire – a small, thriving city which was recently named the best city in North West England to live and work (Demos/PwC, 2021). It also has other campuses based in Burnley, Westlakes and Cyprus.
New students join a truly global institution.
