Get stuck in from day one, learning through an energetic combination of real-life coaching scenarios, projects and fieldwork, as well as hands-on experience with specialist equipment and facilities. A strong focus on practical coaching skills and techniques, informed by coaching theories and performance analysis, will help you identify strengths and get the best out of individuals and teams of all abilities.During the three-year Sports Coaching degree, you’ll explore approaches to coaching children, young adults and older people across community, performance and educational settings. You’ll get to grips with how to identify and support individual needs and talents and learn how to motivate pupils, clients or athletes towards achieving different goals.We’ll help get you up to speed on contemporary issues in sport and introduce you to different working environments available to a coach, so you’re warmed up for the varied world of sports coaching.This course will enable you to:Understand coaching theories and approaches that will help you deliver appropriate coaching activities across a variety of domains.Explore a range of sports science disciplines, including psychology, within sport performance and health based settings.Learn how to coach others toward specific improvements, through rehabilitation or injury prevention strategies, and/or lifestyle enhancementsExplore the typical contexts in which coaches operate, including schools, physical activity settings, governing bodies, and professional sporting organisationsIdentify, analyse and feedback on the contemporary issues within Sport whilst developing your industry awareness and relevance within the field of Sports Coaching.Learn through a combination of real-life coaching scenarios, lab projects, fieldwork and gain hands on experience with specialist equipment in well-equipped facilities.All degrees are awarded by Lancaster University.
