The breadth of expertise in the department is brilliant to help with whatever your subject area may be. Even studying from distance, access to the equipment has bee brilliant for my PhD. The staff are incredibly supportive and help you look beyond in to what skills you may want to develop for future careers.

Swansea is a good university and would recommend it to others, with high class facilities and opportunities for everyone

The location, so close to the beach is unbeatable! And the student atmosphere of both the city life and campus life are amazing. Everyone is friendly and accepting, there is a great sense of community between all students whether you're a sports fan and support the rugby or a waves fan and enjoy the carefree surfer life. Swansea has it all. The University is great with kind staff and amazing support systems to help you no matter what issues you're experiencing academically or personally. I have found a home here and would recommend this beautiful, supportive and safe university and city to anyone! The facilities at the university are fantastic and evolving and growing by the day with loads of additions being made since I arrived. All the lecturers are up to date with current occurrences within their fields which allows for really personal and engaging conversations that never fail to push you academically. And when it all gets stressful (as we all know life and school can be) the beach is always a short walk away to take your mind of things and reset to give you the best chance of succeeding. Would 100% recommend for anyone looking to start fresh and create a career for yourself, Swansea is a great place with immense support to do this!

Very active and engaging lectures/labs allowing for everyone to engage with one another. Let down by location and bus services that are linked to the university as important areas can be missed due to late/nonexistent busses

The best part of studying at Swansea University is hands down the staff. My supervisory team are second to none being able to guide me through building my research project, as well as testing the rigour of my understanding of my research choices. The sports science tech team are great when needing to book out equipment for research or if I have needed support with training on equipment. For me, working from distance, the only downfall is how often I can travel to Swansea for face to face meetings. I'm not sure this could be overcome as my PhD is working in industry, which is great, but means that there is limited time to travel to campus. Possibly setting up regular meetings with supervisors via zoom is the only option, which my supervisory team is very proactive about anyway.
