Social Policy and Criminal Justice is designed for students with or without a professional background in social policy and criminal justice who aspire to support, practice and manage transformative criminal justice projects in a range of environments including central and local government, the third sector, social enterprises, consultancy and business. It is also intended for professionals who want to approach leadership in criminal justice with a strong grasp of data-driven decision-making, policy and practice issues which inform policymaking and governance in the criminal justice system. The course provides the knowledge and skills to navigate the changing landscape of criminal justice.You will develop a sound training in subject specific skills, knowledge and professional values and practice, together with the skills required for lifelong learning so you will be well prepared for continuing development in your chosen career. There is an emphasis on the applied nature of social policy and criminal justice that will help you thrive in a range of professional roles in your community locally, nationally or internationally, for example, probation, prisons, youth justice, policing, security.
