Make a substantial and original contribution to knowledge in the fields of education or social care with this PhD programme. Our School of Education will provide you with a thriving environment as an education researcher - we're committed to developing research in education, identities and inequalities, contributing to knowledge and making a difference to people’s lives and societies. If you work in a professional setting, such as a school, college or other education environment, you might also be interested in our Professional Doctorate in Education. Our school’s research activities are consistently underpinned by a dual concern for inclusion and excellence, yet are also diverse in terms of epistemological, theoretical and empirical foci.Alongside our staff and other PhD students, you can engage with a range of topics relating to identities and inequalities in education, including gender, sexuality, ethnicity, class, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), education for sustainability (including democracy, rights and participation), digital technology in education, arts in schools, and teachers' careers and identities. We also support research in curriculum, pedagogy and educational leadership.
Students need a bachelor degree or equivalent with first or upper second class honours, in a related subject area.
