Course overview

You will develop the business skills you need to make a valuable contribution to the rural industries or smaller enterprises. The HNC offers an excellent opportunity to gain a broad business qualification either for career progression or as a springboard to further study.

The HNC in Rural Business Management can be accessed as a standalone qualification or the first stage of an exciting four year journey, progressing from HNC to HND, then upwards and onwards to a B.A. and ultimately to graduating with a B.A.(Hons) in Rural Business Management. The HNC can be studied either full time (one year) or part-time (two years).

The Rural Business Management qualifications offered by SRUC are widely respected by employers in the rural economy and our candidates get very good jobs and build wonderful careers.

Our course aims are to enhance candidates’ careers with specific business knowledge in the understanding of rural organisations including accessing specialist rural tourism and rural recreation expertise. We want to ensure that the course is challenging, but also fun, learning with a group of classmates who become firm friends.
