This MSc programme explores revolutionary developments in the field of robotics, one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Its central component, the extended research project, offers you the opportunity to publish your research and build a career profile through theoretical and practical work at the Centre for Advanced Robotics. This MSc is closely aligned with The Centre for Advanced Robotics at Queen Mary (ARQ), which specialises in human-machine interaction, design and mechatronics, drones, AI and cognition and more. Students will be taught to develop, analyse, programme, integrate and deploy complex engineering systems, such as industrial manipulators, autonomous mobile robots/vehicles, medical robots, robots for extreme environments, wearables and virtual reality technology. A major part of the degree is the individual research project, which will be based around the internationally-recognised research taking place at our School of Engineering and Materials Science. Your project will be designed under the supervision of our academic staff and there is potential for collaboration with external organisations such as Shadow Robot, Ocado, Google, Automata, Kuka, Q-Bot and many others. The project will develop your ability to create integrated robotics and intelligent systems that can operate in a range of dynamic environments. During your project, you’ll apply the theory from your taught modules, while taking advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities. You can expect to gain expertise in design, kinematics, dynamics, control, electronics, programming, signal and data processing, machine learning, and manufacturing technology.
A high 2:2 (55% or above) at undergraduate level in in any kind of Engineering subject, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics. Graduates of science subjects with several programming modules and with >50% marks in those modules will also be considered.
