Who is this programme for?
This part-time, online modular programme provides masters-level education for general dentists, with a particular emphasis on restorative dentistry.
The structure of the degree is designed to meet the needs of dental practitioners from all over the world.
The programme develops your ability to take an evidence-based approach to clinical practice and to assess and provide quality restorative dentistry.
Career opportunities
This masters degree does not allow entry to any specialist lists, but it will aid promotion in a general dental practice career pathway, particularly within a salaried service.
General Dental Practitioners who wish to be involved with teaching or research will also find this an important qualification.
Learning outcomes
Each course has its own specific learning outcomes. However, the general learning outcomes reflect those of all of the postgraduate degrees offered within Edinburgh Dental Institute.
On graduating, you will be able: to reflect critically on the relationships between theory and practice; to develop an evidence-based approach to your clinical practice; to develop an understanding of how to assess the quality of restorative dentistry in general practice.
A primary dental qualification (such as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery), or its international equivalent, plus a minimum of one years' post-qualification experience in general dental practice or equivalent.
