The Quantum Information Science and Technologies (QIST) programme offers a unique postgraduate training and development experience for those wishing to pursue a career in the quantum information science and technologies sector. It supports both fundamental and applied research that will enable new forms of computation, sensing, and communications that address major societal challenges. Combining the expertise at the University of Bristol and the University of Sussex, the aim of the QIST CDT is to train the UK's best quantum scientists and engineers, capable of working in all areas of the burgeoning QIST ecosystem.
The QIST CDT boasts a bespoke training model, an evolution of the decade-long Quantum Engineering CDT, tailored to the training needs of QIST that disrupts the tradition of training PhD graduates for academic careers. At the core of the programme you will receive cutting-edge training in experimental and theoretical quantum information and quantum technologies. Furthermore, you will also receive specialised training in entrepreneurship, project management, collaborative working, academic practice, science policy, and communication skills. This holistic programme will hone your ability to work effectively in diverse teams, with peers from varied backgrounds in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering and computer science.
An upper second-class degree (or international equivalent) in physics, electrical engineering, computer science, maths, chemistry or in other relevant physical sciences.
