Course summary
This extended course is perfect if you want a degree in Psychology, but you don’t meet the standard entry requirements. First we prepare you for your degree during the Foundation year, bringing you up to speed with academic skills and a firm grounding in the subject - then you can go on to do the full undergraduate degree.
Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year (passing all four modules including Topics for Counselling), students are eligible for an interview to join the BSc Counselling degree (accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)).
Study one of the most rewarding and fascinating areas of science, where you go on a journey through the human mind and explore what makes us tick, and unlock many important reasons behind what makes us who we are, including mental health, human behaviour, and brain development.
Psychology shapes us as individuals, and our society - and is the reason behind many issues, such as why we think or have opinions on certain things, but also helps to improve our lives, where the effects of disability or injury are increasingly being understood and their effects are being mitigated, as the incredible pace of knowledge, research and technological advancement continues. Our internationally renowned academics and fantastic facilities at UEL, including VR and dedicated research labs, will allow you to experience and learn all about modern Psychology in today's climate.
At UEL, our Psychology degree provides you with a versatile platform to go on and make a real difference in your life. You can pursue a career in the ever-growing area of professional Psychology through our Masters and Professional Doctorates, including occupational, clinical and counselling Psychology. However the skills and experience, such as data management, analysis, report writing and critical and creative thinking are all on the top-list of what top companies want in graduates - so you could virtually work anywhere with our degree.
The fantastic thing about a psychology degree is that as well as going into professional psychology - the skills and knowledge it gives you means you can work practically anywhere.
Our degree and teaching will give you the skills and experience in data management, data analysis, report writing, and critical and creative thinking. These are all skills that are now in the top 10 of modern employer's requirements for graduates - so the fact you will have these skills and experience means you're a step ahead and well placed for graduate employment. Furthermore, employers value psychology students because they believe they have a better understanding of human behaviour - your understanding of how people work will be a real selling point, especially later on down the line when you apply for managerial jobs.
